Asheesh is SVP of Product at the blockchain startup Ripple, which he first joined in 2013 to lead the development of their product suite. Asheesh is an industry expert on blockchain and is a frequent contributor, speaker, and advisor on blockchain and cryptocurrency. Asheesh started his career as an entrepreneur 15 years ago in Silicon Valley, where he founded a content management company that he later sold to Thomson-Reuters, becoming their VP of Global Technology in 2005. After leaving Thomson-Reuters in 2010, Asheesh advised and lead product design at a number of startups in Silicon Valley.
Angela Brown is President and Chief Executive Officer of Moneris. She is responsible for continuing to build Moneris’ leadership position in North America, strengthening its position in mobile payments, and expanding its strategic partnerships.
Ms. Brown is an experienced executive with more than 25 years in the payments industry. Prior to Moneris, Ms. Brown was Group Executive, Enterprise Development, Merchants & Acceptance, for MasterCard Worldwide. Ms. Brown started her payments career at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), where she spent 13 years within the ATM, Cards and Payments divisions.
Currently, Ms. Brown serves on the Boards of Altus Group and ITAC (Information Technology Association of Canada), and was also recipient of the Electronic Transactions Association’s 2015 Distinguished Payments Professional award. Ms. Brown holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto, and the ICD.D designation, having completed the Directors Education Program from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Bruce Croxon made his mark as a digital pioneer by co-founding Lavalife and revolutionizing how people connect. Under his direction, he grew this early tech start-up into the marquee brand in online dating with over two million users. Partner, chairman and CEO, Croxon helped lead the company’s growth from four to 600 employees, and achieving revenue of just under $100 million. After its spectacular rise, he led the sale of the company for $180 million dollars. Since that time, Bruce has been active as both an investor and advisor in early stage companies in the technology and hospitality sectors, continuing to expand the reach of his entrepreneurial successes. As an ex Dragon on CBC’s Dragons’ Den, he adds a broad range of businesses and products to his portfolio that tap into his passion for digital media, health and marketing. Croxon currently helms Round13, a company dedicated to investment in growth stage digital Canadian companies. He currently co-hosts The Disruptors on BNN and CTV, a weekly show spotlighting Canadian business and believes our entrepreneurs can hold their own with anyone in the world.
Toomas Hendrik Ilves served as President of Estonia from 2006 to 2016. In this post, he was key in driving the initiatives in e-government and cyber security for which the country has been acknowledged as a world-leader.
Educated in the United States, Ilves graduated from Columbia University in New York City in 1976 and received his Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1978. Toomas Hendrik Ilves was elected President of the Republic of Estonia in 2006, and was re-elected for a second term in office in 2011. In June 2017 – President Ilves was awarded the Reinhard Mohn Prize entitled, “Smart Country: Connected. Intelligent. Digital.” In recognition, Brigitte Mohn, a Member of the Executive Board of Bertelsmann Stiftung, said “Toomas Hendrik Ilves introduced digitalization to schools and classrooms ten years before the invention of the smartphone. He realized just how important the early adoption and acquisition of digital skills were before many others did.”
Stacey Madge has served as Country Manager and President for Visa Canada since April 28, 2017. In her role, she is responsible for leading the Canadian market for Visa. Previously, Ms. Madge was a Senior Vice President in the International Banking Group at Scotiabank, overseeing retail and small business across 30 Latin American and Caribbean markets.
Prior to her role at Scotiabank, Ms. Madge was a Partner at McKinsey & Company, where she was a leader in the areas of retail banking, mergers and acquisitions, and sales force effectiveness.
In her early career, she was an analyst for mergers and acquisitions for RBC Dominion Securities. Ms. Madge graduated from Queen’s University and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She is based in Toronto.
Ruth Wandhöfer is a regulatory and FinTech expert in the financial services space and one of the foremost authorities on banking regulatory matters. Ruth’s key responsibilities include driving regulatory and industry dialogue and developing product and market strategy in line with the evolving regulatory and innovation landscape. Ruth chairs a number of influential industry bodies and pursues a PhD on blockchain/distributed ledger technology in relation to financial market infrastructures. In 2015 she was the recipient of the ‘Women in Banking and Finance Award for Achievement’ and in 2016 she was named on the global ‘Women in Fintech Powerlist’ of Innovate Finance.
